DENVER, COLO. (March 16, 2016) – Today, Colorado Nonprofit Association hosted its annual Awards Luncheon in downtown Denver. This special awards ceremony brought together community, nonprofit and business leaders to recognize the contributions of six individuals and one organization that have all positively impacted the Colorado nonprofit sector.
More than 700 luncheon attendees attended today’s luncheon, honoring the award winners for making Colorado a better place to live. The 2016 Colorado Nonprofit Week Award winners are:
William Funk Award for Building Stronger Communities
This award recognizes exceptional leaders who are capable of bringing together communities to define and solve problems.

Steve Graham Award for Building Nonprofit Capacity
The prestigious award is voted on by past award recipients and honors leaders who have demonstrated remarkable dedication and commitment to the quality of programs and services in the nonprofit sector as a whole.
- David Miller, Institute for Philanthropy & Social Enterprise, University of Denver
Legislator of the Year
This award recognizes legislators that have made a significant impact on the nonprofit sector.

Excellence in Media Award
This award recognizes media that have supported the nonprofit sector.

Public Service Lifetime Achievement Award
This award recognizes an individual that has dedicated their life to serving the public and who has supported nonprofits.

Colorado Nonprofit Week continues with an educational advocacy day at the State Capitol on Thursday, March 17 where nonprofits can meet legislators and learn about legislation impacting charitable organizations. On Friday, March 18, Coloradans are encouraged to “Pay It Forward” in support of charitable organizations and spend a few hours volunteering with their favorite charity.
